Yoga and Walking in Translyvania, Romania | ||||||||||||||||||
Sept 18 -25th 2010 Wake up and look down the valley towards dramatic mountains. Gently greet the day with yoga practice. Spend time walking in the mountains, exploring the culture, or just being still. Casa de la Rau (Riverside House), our home for the week, has a striking view up the valley to the distant Bucegi mountains. Here we practice and can sample tasty vegetarian versions of traditional food. In the heart of Translyvania, the house sits in the quiet and picturesque Moeciu valley, which winds gently up to the slopes of the Bucegi mountains. Casa de la Rau is a modern house built in traditional style, lying half way up the valley in Cheia. Cheia is a small collection of houses, and in the valley life still follows a traditional pattern, giving an insight into life in the country in Romania. There is a variety of walks from the house, gentle strolls, harder slogs up to neighbouring villages, or demanding hikes up to the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului tops. The Moeciu valley is a short distance from Bran, home of the dramatic castle associated with the Dracula myths. Within easy reach are old Saxon towns which have maintained their traditional architecture, and Sinia, the jewel of the Prahova valley. Further information on the house and area is available from the Casa de la Rau Website. Typical daily program. 7.30 - 8.30
Practice Cost: £275 including full board accommodation, yoga tuition (2 yoga sessions daily),
